GCS Ballpark has been the home of the Gateway Grizzlies since 2002 and is known as a great summer location to have affordable, family, fun.
Since 2006, the Grizzlies have consistently garnered national attention, thanks in large part to 'Baseball's Best Burger' and 'Baseball's Best Nachos'.

The Grizzlies "Baseball's Best Burger” continues to deliver on the national stage. The burger was recently ranked 2nd on Sports Illustrated’s list of the Top 10 Minor League Ballpark Foods.
The Grizzlies deliver patrons at GCS Ballpark a thick hamburger topped with 2 slices of bacon and sharp cheddar cheese, and sandwich it between two sides of a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed donut. At only $4.50, this wild combination of flavors consistently sells between 100-200 burgers a night.
In March 2006 Grizzlies General Manager Tony Funderburg and Media Relations Director Jeff O’Neill were guests on ESPN2's Cold Pizza.
They discussed the then-latest addition to the Grizzlies' concession menu, Baseball's Best Burger, joining hosts Dana Jacobson and Jay Crawford in studio live from New York.
The Grizzlies were also featured that month on ESPN.com. They had this to say. “Homer Simpson would love the newest taste sensation in minor league baseball: the doughnut burger.
Head to a Gateway Grizzlies game and this gut-buster could be yours. We kid you not. The Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League promised to create "Baseball's Best Burger" in time for the team's opener in late May. And they appear to have succeeded.
The ballpark sandwich will include a hamburger topped with sharp cheddar cheese and two slices of bacon -- all between a "bun" made of a sliced Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut.
In August 2016, former Grizzlies' outfielder Brandon Thomas crushed a grandslam that happened to hit his very own truck windshield. The story spread nationwide over night and Thomas became a viral sensation. The story was covered by Sportscenter, Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports, USA Today, New York Daily News, the Huffington Post, Reddit and many more!
USA Today included Gateway on their list of ’12 Outrageous Foods At Minor League Ballparks’. According to USA Today, “In southern Illinois, fans flock to see the Gateway Grizzlies’ games, but the food is half the fun at this ballpark’s creative concession stands. "Baseball’s Best Burger" (also called "The Luther Burger" after crooner and yo-yo dieter Luther Vandross) is a juicy quarter-pound hamburger, topped with two slices of bacon and sharp Cheddar and stuffed between a split Krispy Kreme Original Glazed grilled donut.”
Stadium Journey and correspondent Dennis Morrell visited GCS Ballpark in 2012 and had high praise in their review.
According to Morrell, “The Grizzlies and GCS Ballpark provide good value. You will depart the game, regardless of the outcome, very satisfied. Much of this is significantly aided by the feeling you get when you engage with one of the team officials or volunteers. There are many of them available for the appropriate expected crowd. Access to GCS Ballpark is very easy. No matter where you are in St. Louis, you can get to the game in no time. The St. Louis Metro area (which includes the areas just east of the Mississippi River) has a major highway which provides access to anywhere you want to go in St. Louis.
Fans of the Grizzlies get it, they know how to have a good time and they love their team, even if the roster turns over frequently because of the nature of the collegiate-aged and older ballplayers that are found in independent professional baseball. Additional points awarded for some of the best food in professional baseball, the unique hot tub seating area, and the overall value in Sauget, Illinois. Make the trip if you're anywhere in the area. This is a wonderful ballpark. CLICK HERE for the full review!
