Bio

Williams, 23, is coming off a stellar career with the Wolfpack in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).  The 6-0 190-pound centerfielder from New Bern, N.C. batted .268 with nine home runs and 67 RBI during his two years (122 games) at N.C. State.

“Brett is a guy that I can envision coming here and contributing right away,” Grizzlies manager Phil Warren remarked.  “He put up solid offensive numbers in college, but what he’s really known for is his defense.”

Williams, who was drafted in the 25th round by the Diamondbacks in 2011 but decided not to go, was a 2013 Gold Glove recipient by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings.  He committed only four errors in his collegiate career and is known for an incredible catch in a 2013 game that became a Sportscenter top play and generated 4.4 million views on youtube.

“Brett has that ‘wow’ factor,” Warren said.  “He has the ability to make plays in the outfield that not many people can.  He’s going to be fun to watch.”
